About Anthony Nelson
I’m a visual artist who draws inspiration from a wellspring of artistic disciplines. My educational background spans Fine Arts at Barat College (Lake Forest, IL) and Columbia College (Chicago, IL), along with Graphic Design at Waubonsee College (Sugar Grove, IL). This diverse training informs my artistic practice, which incorporates elements of both fine art and graphic design. Throughout my artistic journey, I have been fortunate to learn from inspiring mentors who have played a significant role in shaping my creative vision and I will continue to explore the possibilities within various mediums, fueled by a passion for artistic expression.
As an artist my work starts with a spark of inspiration. From that initial idea, I carefully craft and mold the piece until it embodies the emotions and movement I wish to convey, bridging the gap between realism, expressionism and abstraction. My toolbox isn't limited to brushes. I use a variety of palette knives and other tools to coax both vibrant colorful subjects and confident marks onto the surface. My creations are multi-media journeys, blending acrylics and oils to explore light, texture, and depth, blurring the lines between representation and pure emotion.
